ESR 1: Niklas Köhl
Lipid based formulations (LBF) as Bio-enabling formulation technology

Picture

PEARRL research

Niklas will develop novel lipid-based formulations (LBF) to overcome solubility limited oral absorption and establish an industrial score-card to guide LBF design. Further, he will work on in silico models for predicting in vivo performance of LBF by applying a recent published model established in the Kuentz lab. Moreover, Niklas will validate the utility of in silico modelling to predict in vivo performance using three prototype bio-enabling formulations.

Host

University College Cork  (UCC), School of Pharmacy

Supervisory Team

Dr. B. Griffin (UCC), Prof. M. Kuentz (FHNW), Dr. R. Holm (Janssen)

Scientific Background

Niklas studied pharmacy at the Johann Wolfgang von Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, from 2011 to 2015. During an internship after his studies he extended his knowledge about formulation development and screening as well as primary packaging development at Hoffmann-La Roche AG in Basel, Switzerland.
