ESR 4: Georgia Tsakiridou
Amorphous Solid Dispersion (ASDs) formulations for per os administered bio-enabling drug products

Picture

PEARRL research

Georgia will use the spray dryer to create ASDs in order to overcome dissolution limited oral absorption. She will develop in vitro models to predict the in vivo performance of ASDs and test the validity of the in vitro models by conducting an in vivo study in humans comparing the ASD formulation to a commercially available product.

Host

Pharmathen SA, Product Design & Evaluation

Supervisory Team

Dr. L. Kalantzi (Pharmathen), Prof. C. Reppas (UoA), Prof. M. Kuentz (FHNW)

Scientific Background

Georgia holds a Bachelor of Science degree in molecular biology from the Department of Biology, University of Crete, Greece (2008-2013). “Connection of CRP levels in early pregnancy to pregnancy outcome and fetal growth” was the title of her bachelor’s thesis.
Afterwards, she studied nanomedicine and bionanotechnology at the Department of Nanoscience, Aarhus University, Denmark (2013-2016). Georgia’s master’s thesis was entitled “Aptamer functionalization of albumin by conjugation of oligonucleotides on Cys-34”.
